It is a common misconception that termite damage starts on the outside of the building, when in fact termite damage can even start from under the slab.

Adelaide Pest Control have various options that will provide termite control prior to the concrete slab being laid. This will help prevent termites from entering your property.

It is imperative to consider installing a termite barrier to your property before you build. We have the following pre-construction barriers available:

• Reticulation Barriers – This type of termite control is applied under the concrete slab prior to building your home. This system can also be applied around the perimeter of your property. This system must be topped up approximately every 2 - 4 years for ongoing termite protection.

• Physical Barriers – A physical barrier is a membrane which is laid prior to the slab. It is a flexible system that can be installed in many difficult areas. This barrier does not need to be topped up and will remain in place protecting your property.

• Chemical Barriers – A chemical barrier is a liquid that is applied to the soil. This then forms a barrier between the soil and the concrete slab. Chemical barriers can be applied under the concrete slab or around the perimeter of your property. Unlike reticulation and physical barriers this is not a permanent solution as it can not be replenished or topped up. Where a chemical barrier is applied it is essential that the property is inspected every 12 months.
