Spiders usually enter your home in autumn in search of a warm place to spend the winter.
Generally, the best thing to do is leave them alone. If you have a real fear of spiders, this can be difficult advice to follow.
The majority of spider infestations are considered annoying – particularly because of their webs. However, Australia is home to some of the most dangerous spiders – more serious infestations can occur when these spiders are involved.
We are committed to providing peace of mind for you and your family. Our spider inspection and monitoring service is aimed at detecting specific spider species (link to APC spider species page) that may be dangerous.
There are a number of tactics that you can use to keep spiders away:
Make sure you vacuum regularly - especially sheltered spots such as underneath worktops, behind cupboards or under/behind large furniture.
Remove visible webs regularly - on a regular basis.
Seal gaps - in walls, around pipework and under doors to ensure spiders can’t enter.
Remove sheltering sites near your home - such as firewood piles, garden bags, compost piles and general clutter.
Deter all insects - Spiders feed on insects (especially flies), so use lighting in a way that is less attractive to insects.
